Succeeding in Chemistry at GSST:

· Review the chapter before coming to class.  Having a foundation of understanding will help you when discussing the material in class.

· Learn the chapter a section at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed by the information.

· Take good notes in class.

· It is crucial that you try the problems that are assigned.  Science is not a spectator sport.  You will never get proficient at problem solving if you don’t practice.

· Learn the method of solution in solving problems associated with a particular concept; don’t just try to memorize particular problems.

· Do the problems for a section while the material is still fresh in your mind.  This will help enforce your understanding and bring out any questions or difficulties you have before you move on to new material.

· Don’t be afraid to ask questions during class.

· Use lab activities as an opportunity to help re-enforce your knowledge of the chapter.

· Become familiar with the functions on your calculator and learn to use them correctly.

· Keep a positive attitude about the class.
